Dear Customer,
North American Savings Bank has been alerted that a type of Internet piracy known as “phishing” has recently been attempted against some our customers. Phishing is just that, fishing for your personal financial information. Thieves attempt to lure customers into giving their account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers and other confidential information by sending an email that appears to come from a reputable company that you recognize and do business with, such as your financial institution.
The recipient of a phishing email is typically redirected to a phony website that looks exactly like the real thing. In some cases it may even be the company’s actual website, but a “pop-up” window could appear for the purpose of harvesting your financial information. In other instances, you might receive an email saying your account has been compromised and that your financial information needs to be verified via the Internet. We at North American Savings Bank will never initiate a request for personal information from you via email or the Internet.
If you have provided any unsolicited confidential information regarding a NASB account via the Internet, please contact us immediately at (816) 316-4000, option 1. We’ll take immediate steps to mitigate the impact of such a breach.
To safeguard your future privacy, we recommend the following:
1) Never provide your personal financial information over the internet or by telephone if you did not initiate the contact.
2) Never click on a link provided in an e-mail you believe to be fraudulent.
3) Do not be intimidated by an email that asks you to act immediately.
4) If you believe the contact is legitimate, go to the company’s Web site by typing in the internet address directly or call the company directly.
We at North American Savings Bank take account security very seriously and our systems have the highest reasonable level of security. Thank you for your continued business. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (816) 316-4000, option 1.
